Christophe Sarlandie, an interior architecture firm based in Lyon and the Pays de Gex, specializes in the complete renovation of apartments and houses, providing project management services from design to completion.
I support tailor-made projects in Lyon and Gex, with a comprehensive approach integrating architectural design, technical choices, budget control and site monitoring.
By listening to your desires and needs, my goal is to design quality spaces that are both elegant and perfectly suited to everyday use.
Precise in understanding the expectations of my interlocutors, I develop an architectural design and an aesthetic directly linked to your uses, your lifestyles and your aspirations.
Attentive to the personality and identity of each project, I design unique spaces, tailored to meet specific needs, reconciling existing constraints with initial objectives, whether in Lyon, Annecy or the Pays de Gex.
Having obtained a Advanced Diploma in Applied Arts in Interior Architecture and recognized competent member by the French Council of Interior Architects (CFAI), I collaborated for several years with experienced professionals in architecture and design, including Agence SBBT, Rudy Ricciotti, Jean-Paul Dampierre, Olivier Detroyat and Bryan Chastang, before developing my own design method.
This experience allows me to support you in your interior design project, from conception to completion, within the framework of comprehensive project management services. For over fifteen years, I have specialized in enhancing characterful homes, whether they be Haussmannian apartments, manor houses, contemporary duplexes, city pied-à-terres, or contemporary villas.
I mainly work between Lyon and the Pays de Gex, while occasionally carrying out projects in France and internationally, particularly in Switzerland, the United States or Thailand, depending on the projects and collaborations.
With a focus on cross-border practice, I am also recognized by the VSI-ASAI.
Hiring an interior architect in Lyon or the Pays de Gex allows you to structure a renovation project, control the technical challenges and secure each stage, from design to completion.
Since 2024, I have held the position of Vice-President of the French Council of Interior Architects (CFAI), the leading professional association in France for the profession, which has been committed for over forty years to the structuring and recognition of the profession.
Since 2023, I have represented French interior architects within the European Council of Interior Architects (ECIA), a European body that federates professional organizations from twenty countries and more than eighteen thousand interior architects. This commitment has led me to participate in various international events and conferences in Europe, Africa, and Asia, focusing on contemporary issues facing the profession.
From 2019 to 2023, I was president of the CFAI’s teaching committee, responsible for monitoring the evolution of interior architecture training programs and supporting schools in their accreditation process. This committee contributes to a rigorous identification of interior architecture curricula in France, with a focus on high standards and quality.
Committed to passing on the profession since the beginning of my career, I held the position of national educational director within the ESDAC group for seven years, overseeing twelve establishments in France. I also taught for fourteen years, notably project design at a Master’s level, contributing to the training of future interior architects.
I pay particular attention to the work of volumes, the interior organization and the openings, which allow the gaze to extend towards the landscape, the city and the natural light, a true revealer of space.
In the context of apartment and house renovation projects in Lyon and the Pays de Gex, this approach makes it possible to transform existing spaces by optimizing uses and enhancing their architectural potential.
The manipulation of materials is essential in every project. Wood, metal, stone, glass, and textiles are considered as integral compositional elements. Materials such as Corian® and Silestone quartz complement this palette, combining aesthetic appeal with practical requirements.
Interior lighting is designed as an extension of the architecture. It helps to structure the atmosphere, reveal the materials and emphasize the lines of the space.
Custom-made furniture and fittings follow this continuity, in order to create coherent, elegant and suitable ensembles for everyday life.
This approach allows me today to work as an interior designer in Lyon, Annecy and the Pays de Gex, on complete renovation projects requiring a global vision, from design to completion.
The quality of an interior design project relies on a comprehensive approach to enhancing space and living environment. This requirement can be part of a virtuous approach, attentive to sustainability and the transformation of existing structures.
Reusing materials is not a new practice. Historically, many buildings have been constructed using materials from previous buildings, revealing a constructive intelligence based on economy of means and the valorization of resources.
Today, this approach is making perfect sense in apartment and house renovation projects, particularly in Lyon and the Pays de Gex, where the aim is to reveal existing potential rather than systematically replacing.
Reusing, transforming and adapting thus make it possible to design more sustainable projects, while maintaining a strong architectural requirement and a consistent aesthetic quality.
Created in Lyon, then developed in Divonne-les-Bains, the Christophe Sarlandie interior architecture workshop puts its expertise at the service of apartment and house renovation projects, in design and project management, from sketch to completion.
The workshop also works in design, decoration and furniture, in a comprehensive and coherent approach to space.
A team of specialists and partners support each project throughout its implementation. Committed to maintaining a direct link with its clients and guaranteeing a high standard of relationship quality, the firm deliberately chooses to limit the number of projects it undertakes each year.
This organization makes it possible to ensure tailor-made support, with precise and personalized monitoring at each stage.
The workshop specializes in transforming existing structures: restructuring surfaces, optimizing volumes, occasional extensions or raising of heights, as well as in the design of interior layouts, custom-made furniture and landscaping projects.
Its role is to support each project in its entirety. The workshop is involved in the whole process, from the first sketches to the acceptance of the work and the installation of decorative elements, within the framework of complete project management missions.
Each renovation project in Lyon, the Pays de Gex, Geneva, or Annecy is structured in three main stages. This organization ensures consistency between architectural intentions, technical constraints, and the realities of the construction site
1
Analysis of the project and the site
Each project receives special attention, with a limited number of operations monitored simultaneously to ensure a high level of quality.
This time should enable us to create the conditions for dialogue on the overall logic of the collaboration: evoke the design process in interior architecture.
This moment will be an opportunity to precisely analyze the potential of the space, any possible technical constraints and to discuss a first feasibility approach.
2
The second stage is the Design Study, also called Preliminary Design in the field of architecture.
Based on your specifications and our discussions, we begin the project design. We present you with hypotheses for the organization of the interior architecture, highlighting the qualities of the space.
This phase allows us to test hypotheses and explore the range of possibilities. A discussion based on the graphic representations we provide (plans, diagrams, perspectives, and 3D images) will enable us to jointly define promising avenues and relevant choices for the project’s progress. This phase is generally organized as a working meeting, allowing for gradual advancement until the final spatial organization is approved. Throughout this stage, we offer our professional expertise, listening to your preferences and guiding your vision. The dialogue during these working sessions will allow us to progressively advance the design.
This step may require specific skills such as those of a surveyor, an acoustician, a thermal engineer or a structural engineering firm which will be mandated to provide its expertise and confirm feasibility if necessary.
Do you have a renovation project in Lyon or the Pays de Gex? I can assist you in its design and execution.

The third stage is that of preparing and monitoring the construction site.
This assignment presupposes a structured and previously validated project. It is undertaken only once the architectural decisions have been clearly defined.
Based on the Design Study file produced by the workshop and after obtaining any necessary administrative authorizations, we consult, with the Tender Documents, the craftsmen and building companies selected for you according to the specificity of your project, its location.
Our expertise and industry knowledge allow us to provide consistent and tailored quotes. We have consulted with certain tradespeople for over ten years, ensuring high-quality workmanship and a relationship built on trust throughout the project. In accordance with best practices in architecture, we verify the professional liability insurance of all future contractors.
We monitor the progress of the work and renovations by coordinating all the stakeholders involved in the renovation project: painter-plasterer, electrician, plumber, tiler, parquet layer, mason, carpenter-cabinetmaker, ironworker, ornamental plasterer, kitchen fitter…
We ensure your project is flawlessly executed by monitoring progress in accordance with the General Design Document. We hold regular meetings to keep you informed of the project’s progress and guarantee the quality of the work in Lyon, Annecy, or Gex.
Our expertise in interior design, our knowledge of your project and your tastes allows us to select, with you, the furniture and decoration to harmonize your future space and finalize the process.
A successful bespoke project is built on attentive listening, trust and a clear mutual understanding. To ensure a smooth and well-structured collaboration focused on architectural quality, we provide an estimation tool allowing you to obtain an initial evaluation of your project.
