Interior architect in Lyon and the Pays de Gex, Christophe Sarlandie specializes in the complete renovation of apartments and houses, acting as project manager from design to completion.
I support tailor-made projects in Lyon, Annecy and the Pays de Gex, with a comprehensive approach integrating:
architectural design
technical choices and materials
site monitoring
Each project is conceived as a coherent whole. Hiring an interior designer in Lyon or Gex for a complete renovation, a high-end apartment, or a contemporary house primarily involves trust, competence, and professional responsibility.
Holder of the Higher Diploma in Interior Architecture and a recognized member of the French Council of Interior Architects, I rely on a solid theoretical training and more than 20 years of experience in the profession.
I have collaborated with renowned agencies and architects such as Rudy Ricciotti, Olivier Detroyat, Bryan Chastang and Jean-Paul Dampierre.
During these years, I have designed and developed public and private interior architecture projects of all sizes, ranging from the renovation of high-end apartments and houses to complex operations carried out within multidisciplinary teams bringing together architects, engineers, design offices, landscape architects, craftsmen and specialized companies.
These experiences have gradually shaped my own working method in interior architecture, now focused on high-end complete renovation, optimization of volumes, project management, site supervision and the creation of sustainable, coherent and contemporary interiors.
Committed to knowledge transfer, I have been training students in project methodology for fifteen years and, for seven years, was the national academic director of an interior architecture school. For four years, I was president of the CFAI’s teaching committee.
In this context, my studies, experience and practice of interior architecture have been recognized by the French Council of Interior Architects (CFAI), a leading professional organization in France for over forty years for the profession of interior architect.
I have been the vice-president of the CFAI since 2023.
This recognition attests to:
Since 2000, the CFAI has played a central role in structuring and recognizing the profession of interior architect in France with ministries and higher education institutions.
Interior architect in Lyon and Pays de Gex: cross-border expertise
I mainly work between Lyon and the Pays de Gex, with occasional projects in Switzerland and internationally.
This practice allows me to integrate:
demanding technical requirements
international standards
a demanding contemporary approach
I am also recognized by the leading professional association for interior designers in Switzerland, VSI-ASAI.
Beyond my work as an interior architect in Lyon, the Monts d’Or, the Pays de Gex, and the Geneva area, I am also the French delegate for our profession within the European Council of Interior Architects (ECIA). This commitment has also led me to participate in numerous professional events, international conferences, and specialized trade shows dedicated to interior architecture, design, and the evolution of contemporary practices in Europe, Asia, and Africa.
Every renovation project begins with an in-depth interior design study to analyze the space’s true potential, its technical constraints, and the possibilities for evolving the layout. This essential step includes analyzing volumes, circulation patterns, natural light, uses, and the overall organization of the dwelling to design an interior that is aesthetically pleasing, cohesive, and sustainable. Floor plans, layout scenarios, perspectives, and 3D visualizations allow the project to be progressively refined and provide a precise understanding of the future atmosphere, materials, and proportions before work begins.
In the context of apartment and house renovations in Lyon, the Monts d’Or, or the Pays de Gex, this approach allows for the design of bespoke spaces adapted to the occupants’ lifestyles, while enhancing the property’s architectural character. The objective is to create a balance between contemporary interior design, user comfort, optimized space, and aesthetic quality, with particular attention paid to materials, light, perspectives, and execution details.
As an interior architect in Lyon, I also undertake comprehensive project management assignments to ensure the coherence and quality of the project’s execution through to completion. This includes, in particular, preparing the tender documents, drafting technical and contractual documents, analyzing quotes, assisting in the selection of tradespeople and companies, as well as organizing the construction schedule and coordinating the various stakeholders.
Site supervision is a crucial step in the success of a complete, high-end renovation. It allows for monitoring the proper execution of the work, ensuring adherence to the architectural design, budget, deadlines, and expected level of finish. This presence throughout the project provides clients with structured and reassuring support, which is particularly important for complex renovations of older apartments, contemporary houses, or projects requiring close technical coordination.
Created in Lyon, then developed in Divonne-les-Bains, the Christophe Sarlandie interior architecture workshop puts its expertise at the service of apartment and house renovation projects, in design and project management, from sketch to completion.
The workshop also works in design, decoration and furniture, in a comprehensive and coherent approach to space.
A team of specialists and partners support each project throughout its implementation. Committed to maintaining a direct link with its clients and guaranteeing a high standard of relationship quality, the firm deliberately chooses to limit the number of projects it undertakes each year.
This organization makes it possible to ensure tailor-made support, with precise and personalized monitoring at each stage.
The workshop specializes in transforming existing structures: restructuring surfaces, optimizing volumes, occasional extensions or raising of heights, as well as in the design of interior layouts, custom-made furniture and landscaping projects.
Its role is to support each project in its entirety. The workshop is involved in the whole process, from the first sketches to the acceptance of the work and the installation of decorative elements, within the framework of complete project management missions.
Each renovation project in Lyon, the Pays de Gex, Geneva, or Annecy is structured in three main stages. This organization ensures consistency between architectural intentions, technical constraints, and the realities of the construction site
1
Analysis of the project and the site
Each project receives special attention, with a limited number of operations monitored simultaneously to ensure a high level of quality.
This time should enable us to create the conditions for dialogue on the overall logic of the collaboration: evoke the design process in interior architecture.
This moment will be an opportunity to precisely analyze the potential of the space, any possible technical constraints and to discuss a first feasibility approach.
2
The second stage is the Design Study, also called Preliminary Design in the field of architecture.
Based on your specifications and our discussions, we begin the project design. We present you with hypotheses for the organization of the interior architecture, highlighting the qualities of the space.
This phase allows us to test hypotheses and explore the range of possibilities. A discussion based on the graphic representations we provide (plans, diagrams, perspectives, and 3D images) will enable us to jointly define promising avenues and relevant choices for the project’s progress. This is generally organized as a working meeting, allowing for gradual advancement until the final spatial organization is approved. Throughout this stage, we offer our professional expertise, listening to your preferences and guiding your direction. The dialogue during these working sessions will allow us to progress gradually in the design.
This step may require specific skills such as those of a surveyor, an acoustician, a thermal engineer or a structural engineering firm which will be mandated to provide its expertise and confirm feasibility if necessary.
Do you have a renovation project in Lyon or the Pays de Gex? I can assist you in its design and execution.

The third stage is that of preparing and monitoring the construction site.
This assignment presupposes a structured and previously validated project. It is undertaken only once the architectural decisions have been clearly defined.
Based on the Design Study file produced by the workshop and after obtaining any necessary administrative authorizations, we consult, with the Tender Documents, the craftsmen and building companies selected for you according to the specificity of your project, its location.
Our expertise and industry knowledge allow us to provide consistent and tailored quotes. We have consulted with certain tradespeople for over ten years, ensuring high-quality workmanship and a relationship built on trust throughout the project. In accordance with best practices in architecture, we verify the professional liability insurance of all future contractors.
We monitor the progress of the work and renovations by coordinating all the stakeholders involved in the renovation project: painter-plasterer, electrician, plumber, tiler, parquet layer, mason, carpenter-cabinetmaker, ironworker, ornamental plasterer, kitchen fitter…
We ensure your project is flawlessly executed by monitoring progress in accordance with the General Design Document. We hold regular meetings to keep you informed of the project’s progress and guarantee the quality of the work in Lyon, Annecy, or Gex.
Our expertise in interior design, our knowledge of your project and your tastes allows us to select, with you, the furniture and decoration to harmonize your future space and finalize the process.
A well-executed personalized project requires work based on listening, trust, and mutual understanding. In order to create a serene collaboration in the service of architectural quality, we offer you an estimation tool that will allow you to make an initial estimate of your project.
Through these projects located particularly in Lyon (Croix-Rousse, Part-Dieu, Bellecour, Confluence, Presqu’île, Montchat, , Tête d’Or, Brotteaux and Monts d’Or) and in the greater Lyon (Villeurbanne, Tassin, Écully, Sainte-Foy-lès-Lyon, Collonges-au-Mont-d’Or, Caluire-et-Cuire, Champagne au Mont d’Or, Saint-Didier au Mont d’Or, Saint-Cyr au Mont d’Or, Couzon au Mont d’Or or Saint Germain au Mont d’Or), in the Pays de Gex (Genève, Lausanne, Nyon, Divonne-les-Bains, Gex, Ferney-Voltaire, Annemasse, Valserhône and Nyon) and in Annecy (Duingt, Epagny Metz-Tessy, Groisy, Menthon-Saint-Bernard, Poisy, Saint-Jorioz, Sevrier, Talloires-Montmin, Fillière), the workshop develops a demanding approach to interior architecture, integrating both the design of spaces, the choice of materials and the monitoring of construction sites in project management.
